Government

The City of Sheridan is a Mayor and City Council form of government.  The City is comprised of three city wards, each of which is represented by two council members, electing one every two years.

Sheridan County is a County Commission form of government currently with three commissioners.  However, in 2008, Sheridan County will elect three commissioners, which will form a five-person commission.  Commissioners serve four year-terms, elected every two years -- three one election cycle and two the next.  Other elected offices include the County Attorney, the County Clerk, the County Treasurer, and the County Assessor, all of which are elected every four years.

The State of Wyoming consists of two chambers of legislature (House and Senate).  Sheridan County is represented at the state level by four representatives and two senators, half of whom are elected every two years.  State Elected Officials include the Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, State Auditor, and Superintendent of Public Instruction, all of whom serve four-year terms, form the Executive Branch of the State's government, and comprise the State Land Investment Board (SLIB).
